This Wednesday, May 31st, we will celebrate the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In St. Luke’s account of this important event we find the “Magnificat”, the beautiful canticle of Our Blessed Mother that the Church prays every day at Vespers (Evening Prayer).
Here the young virgin mother cries out: “My spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” This simple statement gives us a glimpse into the mystery of the most holy and most sane of all God’s creatures. Her happiness is in her Creator, in His presence, His Love and His Glory. She lives in the truth, in reality. If only we could be so uncomplicated.
May Our Blessed Mother help us to find our joy in its true source. God bless you.
